Dr. V. Vinay co-invented the Simputer, a portable alternative to the PC to enable the common man to reap the benefits of IT. He has a wide range of interests in mathematical aspects of computer science, especially in Complexity Theory, Algorithms, and Data Mining. He currently serves as a President of the Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS).He was inspired into research after exchanging encouraging mails as an undergraduate student with E. W.
