N. Vittal is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the 1960 batch who has played an instrumental role in enabling the IT industry in India. He initiated policies for boosting software and enabling easy set up of software parks that would enable FDI from reputed multinationals. He also initiated the liberalization of the telecom sector, which later became the backbone for the IT revolution. He has authored 5 books and 400 articles on various topics ranging from technology, government and bureaucracy.N.
