Nandan is an iconic businessman, thought leader, author and philanthropist. He co-founded Infosys and served on the Board of Directors from its inception till 2009, where he held several positions including Co-Chairman, CEO and COO. He then led the UIDAI organization, working towards delivering a unique identification for each Indian citizen in the form of Aadhaar Cards. He is serving as the President of the governing body of the National Council of Applied Economic Research, India's oldest, largest and premier independent economic research institute. He is actively engaged with EkStep, a non-profit technology-led literacy platform focused on improving learning outcomes in children.

Nandan was part of the Software India Seminar - a roadshow showcasing India's expertise in software services in the USA during 1987 - where the idea of NASSCOM was first conceived.
