Prof. M G K Menon started his career as a professor of Physics at TIFR. He became the second Director of TIFR at the age of 38. His research domain was particle physics and cosmic rays. He played an important role in the development of Indian science and technology. And was instrumental in nurturing the growth of Indian scientific institutions like ISRO, DRDO, and CISR. He went on to become the Minister of State for Science, Technology and Education- Govt. of India. Prof. M G K Menon was the first Chairman of the Electronics Commission, Govt. of India and the first Secretary of the Department of Electronics, Govt. of India.
