Prof. V. Rajaraman is a pioneer in Computer Science education in India. He was instrumental in initiating Computer Science education in IIT Kanpur and the National Supercomputing facility at IISc. He has written over 20 highly popular computer science books. He initiated plans to set up the Master of Computer Application (MCA) course in Indian universities as a way to increase the pool of skilled IT manpower.
