R. Chandrashekhar is an Indian Administrative Service officer who has served in several central and state governments in the IT, telecom and electronics policy formulation and implementation that has helped promote the sectors. As Secretary of Department of Information Technology, he led the policy formulation for the IT sector, promoting Electronic System Design, Manufacturing and R&D and also designing the National e-Governance Plan. As Secretary of Department of Telecommunication, he was responsible for driving policies around licensing, spectrum management, R&D and the creation of National Telecom Policy. Prior to this, he had established India's first Department of Information Technology in the state of Andhra Pradesh.R.
